Model United Nations

Globeducate MUN 2021

Globeducate conducted an online Model United Nations and I decided to take part in it. I have been doing MUNs for over 3 years now and its an activity I truly enjoy. I get to be a diplomat even if its pretend play and give voice to hundreds of real world issues whilst trying to come up with solutions for them. Here, I participated in the capacity of a delegate, I was given the role of the delegate of St.Vincent and the Grenadines in the United Nations Security Council.

We discussed 2 different topics,
1. Impact of Covid 19 on peace and security
2. The influence of environmental degradation on Peace and Security,

and came up with solutions in the format of a draft resolution for each of them. We debated on the issue, our solutions and put our draft resolutions to vote in an effort to pass them! The MUN was well organizer but it was very much out of my comfort zone in this committee. I am more of a humanitarian delegate and prefer humanitarian committees such United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNHRC), United Nations Women (UNW), United Nations Human rights Council (UNHRC) and Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Committee (SOCHUM).

 

MILMUN'2021 

Students from PSBB Millenium schools, Coimbatore organized an online Model United Nations conference this year. It was conducted virtually owing to the Covid-19 pandemic. This is my second time attending MILMUN and really gave me a lot to reflect on my growth as a person. The previous time, I attended in the capacity of a delegate but this year I was a member of the executive board - one of the judges. My fellows chair and I were responsible for moderating and scoring the delegates and their performance. It was a fun experience as my co-chairs and organizers were acquaintances/friends of mine. 

 In both these events, I was able to display my communication skills, thinking skills, research skills and learner profiles such as principled, open-minder, empathy, Risk taker, Reflective and knowledgeable.
